False Alarm...

Yesterday I went on a solo field trip to Target - I was so excited!! I had so many thoughts on things for the baby's room. I walked around for a while, got some storage things and a few really cute clothes that were on clearance. After getting about halfway through the store, I felt AWFUL. I thought I might fall, I was so dizzy, and I felt like I could puke. So I stopped shopping, went right to check out, and went home. I had to stop at Quik Check on the way - I of course had to go to the bathroom, and I thought maybe my empty stomach was the cause of the nausea - I picked up a sandwich. I got home, still felt bad - and just rested the rest of the day on the couch (with my helper, Rocky!).

Around 7pm, I started getting some contractions - nothing new, I have been in the hospital 3 times for pre-term labor, so I wasn't really convinced anything was happening. From 8-10, we timed them, around 3-5 minutes apart, and with the nausea, I thought it might be best to check in with the Dr. on call. He told me it sounded like I was 'laboring' and he wanted me to go to the hospital & get checked. So we grabbed the hospital bag & boppy and went. I really couldn't believe this really could be it - I feel like she's NEVER coming! We figured we'd take one more picture, just in case this was the last belly shot!

The nurses checked me when we got there, about 70% effaced (same as last Dr. appt on Wednesday), but no dilation. The plan was to get me up & moving, stir things up with the checks and maybe have a baby!! So 3 hours later, and MUCH stronger contractions, they checked again. NO CHANGE. So disappointing. Since my contractions were stronger and even more frequent, they had me stay a little longer, and at 5am the Dr. came and checked me and I was then 90% effaced. But no dilation, so they sent me home. The progress I made has us hopeful though! The Dr. said that with a first time Mom, the effacing is the longest process, and once I get to 100%, the contractions will get me dilating.

So we're just waiting again! The contractions have definitely slowed down, but they are stronger, so hopefully something's happening... Today we had a visit from Maureen & Erin, who brought me the most beautiful flowers!!!

TJ & I have had a whole week off together, and he goes back to work on Monday night - yuck!! I love having him home... Hopefully this little baby decides to come soon, then we'll have more time together - all 3 of us (plus the animals of course!).
